No One Will Hold You Accountable for the Thoughts in Your Head
I am going to be honest, tonight’s post almost didn’t happen. I got home later than expected and needed to get ready for another early day tomorrow. My blog streak was about to end at two, until I knew it couldn’t because of one little interaction earlier today.
While training a couple diehard members of our lifting squad earlier this afternoon, I was asked about my previous posts and whether or not I was planning on writing every day. Unprepared for the question, I did my best to awkwardly avert committing to the notion by responding with an ambiguous “we’ll see…”
Truth be told, when I first decided to start up this blog, I pondered the idea of seeing how many days in a row I could continue to make posts. Of course, I didn’t tell anyone of my intentions…after all, what if I failed after less than a week? How silly would I look then?
Bottom line, if never asked about posting every day, I would likely have skipped writing this tonight. The moral of the story is that you need to make your goals public if you want to improve your chances of success. Our best of intentions get squandered every day because they often fail to leave the space between our ears.
Know this, however, once your intentions are made public to those around you, you have to then take action. Every opportunity to act on publicized goals that you let slip away will weaken the power of this strategy.
So, thanks to some good friends and lifting compadres, I was able to stick to my goals, albeit for one more night. Now that the cat’s out of the bag, I will need your help in keeping the streak alive.
I now, once again, turn it over to you. What unattained aspirations have you been keeping to yourself in fear that you might not be able to achieve them. It’s time to voice your goals and make them happen. I am excited to hear from you and support you along your journey!
